Information Technology Systems ( ITS ) at Syracuse University seeks applicants for a Enterprise Systems Engineer. The position supports Syracuse University ERP application stack including Linux and Windows virtual servers. Additionally, the Enterprise Systems Engineer maintains firewall rules, configures software, and administers load balancing. The role is responsible for installing, monitoring, maintaining, and performance tuning of ERP applications, application servers, and web servers. This includes patch installation, troubleshooting, and database problem resolution, performance tuning, capacity planning, data migrations and automating maintenance/upgrade activities. The position is coordinates with administrative and functional entities and non-university entities such as technical specialists who support vendor products.
Responsibilities
Support and maintain the ERP applications in support of administrative and student systems. Collaborate with Senior Systems Engineer on system design and maintenance best practices then depoys resulting changes to ERP systems. Provide consulting and collaboration within EAS and ITS to support the strategic direction of the department and University. Performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning of the ERP application and infrastructure. Support, maintain, and monitor the University’s UC4/JAMs Job Scheduler and scheduling queues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience, and three (3+) years or more experience in ERP computing technology. Ability to install, maintain, configure, and ensure the integrity of Enterprise Applications. Skilled in environment creation/management, object/data migration, version control, as well as automation of maintenance and upgrade activities Experience/knowledge with the entire ERP application development cycle – to include database management, application server installation and management, web server installation and management. Experience configuring and tuning ERP middleware technology, including application server and web server software. Extensive understanding and experience in Enterprise application problem resolution. Strong understanding of relational database management, including database structures, theories, principles, and practices. Excellent verbal and written skills, encompassing complete understanding of the English language with exceptional communications skills. Strong organizational, project management and leadership skills. Strong aptitude to learn and adapt to technology. Ability to work independently as well as collaborate on a team.
