POSITION: Network Technician II
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology
REPORTS TO: Director of IT
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Network Technician II provides technical maintenance and recovery support to the local and wide area networks, including installing, implementing, and supporting network equipment and software. Assists in maintaining the established availability and reliability goals through daily monitoring and coordination of outside vendors. Provides supervised project management where appropriate.
DUTIES:
Manages and maintains the voice and data network infrastructure, relying on vendors for support as needed.
• Manages desktop, server, and infrastructure hardware, software, and licenses.
• Manages data and voice network connectivity.
• Manages end-user and client applications.
• Manages data backups.
• Manages Active Directory schema, objects, and policies.
• Manages Microsoft Exchange infrastructure.
• Manages network security resources, including firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and
Anti-Virus systems.
Provides application, data, and voice support to end-users and clients, both in person and over the telephone.
• Provides support for desktop and telephone problems.
• Sets up desktop PCs, network accounts, and telephones for new users.
• Provides support for automated data transformation and movement processes.
• Provides support for client and end-user applications.
Creates and maintains automated data transformation and movement processes.
• Plans and creates specialized client data transfer methods, customized to specific client requirements.
• Plans and creates specialized internal data transfer methods, customized to internal requirements.
• Manages data transformation and movement processes.
Creates and maintains data and voice network and application documentation, including the Disaster Recovery Plan.
• Creates and updates voice and data network infrastructure documentation.
• Creates and updates application documentation.
• With supervisory assistance, maintains the corporate Disaster Recovery Plan.
• Conducts periodic reviews to ensure that all documentation is kept current.
With supervisory assistance, manages and executes medium-to-large projects involving IT operations.
With supervisory assistance, assists with core application modifications.
Completes other duties as assigned.

SKILL SET:
Bachelor’s degree in CS/MIS/CIS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read and process complex technical information.
Proficiency in standard and advanced software applications.
Excellent organizational and decision making skills.
Industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, etc.) preferred.
Must have at least five years experience with network technologies including Windows Server products, management
applications, and Ethernet network topology.
Must have an understanding and working knowledge of PC equipment and common PC-based applications including
Windows 2000 and XP, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
