IT Network Engineer – Richards Industrials

The Position:
Richards is now seeking an experienced, motivated, and results-oriented IT Network Engineer to help us design, implement, and maintain the critical network infrastructure. The IT Network Engineer will work closely with all departments, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure optimal network performance, security, and reliability. The role reports directly to Richards’ CFO. He or she will join an established team of two talented associates, based in Cincinnati.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, install, and configure network devices like routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and VPNs.
- Perform network configuration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving to ensure smooth operation.
- Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions.
- Participate in network upgrades, patching, backups, and migrations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users on network-related matters.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of network policies and standards.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation (schedule to be determined).
- Research and evaluate new network technologies and solutions to stay ahead of the curve.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to maintain optimal network performance.
Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a network administration role
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience with Active Directory (AD) domain environments.
- Familiarity with network security concepts and a willingness to learn more.
- Working knowledge of VLANs.
- Experience with cloud migration is a plus.
- Strong understanding of VMware products is a plus.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Experience with Meraki and/or Fortinet software/hardware preferred.
- Knowledge of IBM iSeries and IBM i OS preferred.
- Cyber security experience preferred.
