Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at AlphaGroup.ai
Location: Remote and Miami
This is a fully remote position, full-time, with flexible working hours and work arrangements.
About AlphaGroup AlphaGroup is part of the “Intelligent Accounting” era, integrating artificial intelligence into clients' existing ERP solutions to automate accounting and provide advisory, business insight, and eventually business foresight. We’re an early-stage start-up, founded by Yale and Harvard graduates with several successful start-ups behind them. We’re US-based, but our team is global, from Australia to California. We’re bringing AI to Finance and Accounting because the industry is ripe for automation and big-data insight and the market is huge: $200B just in the US. Our main office location is in Miami. We have a well-established remote-work culture, and over 50% of our team are working fully remote.
About You You’ve been a technology leader for 10+ years, with a strong background in software development and cloud technologies. We’re looking for an experienced CTO who enjoys working with innovative technologies and can lead our technical strategy and team. You possess a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to drive the growth and success of AlphaGroup.ai. You should have plenty of experience in building high-performance, well-monitored cloud environments, designing efficient data flows, and leading teams to execute on ambitious technical roadmaps.
As a team leader, you are not afraid of reaching out to your colleagues to discuss development challenges, especially when guiding the team to solve specific issues. You are fluent in English and have exceptional communication skills.
Required Tech Skills
- 10+ years of experience in software development and technical leadership
- Strong background in backend development using Node.js and TypeScript
- Extensive experience with relational databases and Redis
- Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and microservices architecture
- Expertise in Docker and Kubernetes
- Deep understanding of AWS services
- Experience in designing and managing high-performance, scalable cloud environments
Nice to Have Tech Skills
- AWS - ECS, EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3
- Familiarity with AWS services for data engineering/warehousing (e.g., Redshift)
- DataDog - metrics/alerting/dashboards
- Auth0 (or similar, e.g., Okta)
- Ansible
- Metabase
- Apache Druid
Responsibilities of the CTO Role
Technical Strategy and Leadership:
- Develop and execute the technical strategy aligned with AlphaGroup.ai's business goals.
- Lead the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Product Development and Management:
- Oversee the development of new features and services in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure software products.
Infrastructure and Architecture:
- Design and optimize relational database schemas and data flows.
- Implement caching mechanisms using Redis.
- Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines.
Cloud and DevOps:
- Manage microservices in a Docker and Kubernetes environment.
- Integrate various AWS services to enhance backend capabilities.
- Ensure the backend infrastructure is secure, well-monitored, and performs optimally.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Mentor and develop the technical team, providing guidance and support.
- Foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Communicate clearly with the team and stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable plans.
Innovation and Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and industry best practices.
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing solutions and processes.
- Drive innovation within the technical team and across the organization.
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with other departments, including product, sales, and customer support, to align technical efforts with business needs.
- Engage with clients and partners to understand their needs and provide technical solutions.
Compliance and Security:
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Implement and maintain security best practices across all technical operations.
Other Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in text
- Multiple years of experience working in remote-first teams
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field is a plus
- Open-source contributions are a plus
