Systems/Solutions Engineer Job Description

Experience owning the full lifecycle of a project includingrequirements gathering, planning, validation,implementation,and handovertocustomer:
- Assess current client environment to determine overallenvironmentalhealthand identify and evaluate technical risks such as software licenses/cabling/optics,etctobe able to get to the outcome
- Develop and implementrecommended solution
- Implement systems in client environments and perform the integration work necessary to ensure the success of the implementation within the larger environment.
- Provide regular, written updates to project management and account executives on the progress of project work, in addition to standard checkpoint meetings /calls both internal and client-facing.
- Prepare thorough documentation and training forhandoverof the solution to the customer
- Provide high level technical support and advanced troubleshooting for client environments, both during implementation and as ongoing escalation support.
Requirements
Broad technical experience installing, troubleshooting, supporting, and upgrading Datacenter and Cloud infrastructure technologies including:
- Linux skills, particularly architecture for enterprise environments, installation, and tuning for application performance
- Networking Solutions – servers, switches, routers, wireless, VPNs
- Security platforms such as firewalls, EDM, SIEM, IDS
- Windows Server - Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
- SAN and NAS solutions – storage area network
- Virtualization – server and data virtualization
- Backup and Recovery solutions
- Email platforms
Additional Preferred Experience
- Red Hat including OpenShift, OpenStack, Ansible Automation and Satellite
- Cloud Solutions including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, etc.
- Process and Business Automation platforms like vRealize, UIpath, etc.
- Database and data visualizationplatforms such as SQL, Oracle, Synergy, PowerBI, Tableau, Splunk, ZOHO Analytics, or equivalent
- VDI environments both cloud and on-prem
- Experience in Regulated industries and Compliance specifications
Other Skills Needed to be Successful
- Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
- Consultant / Entrepreneurial mindset, focused on personal responsibility for successful project outcomes
- Ability to work on multiple projects with changing priorities on a day-to-day basis. May include unscheduled after-hours onsite or remote work
- Process oriented: ability to develop and follow established processes and procedures
- Ability to manage stressful situations with tact and diplomacy, both to internal and external contacts (of varying technical levels), while maintaining focus on obtaining a positive end result
Certs/Education
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field highly desirable
- Multiple certs desired in areas mentioned above
Years of Experience
- At least 8 years of experience supporting complex infrastructure environments
Communication
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Travel/Time
- On-site at customer location when needed (regional customer base in VA, MD and DC area most of the time); may require travel to other parts of the US occasionally
- May require scheduled and unscheduled after-hours work.
