Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team, focusing on the implementation and optimization of cloud infrastructure for mission-critical systems within the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud services (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) and architecture, ensuring that all solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with the needs of the DoD.
Experience with DevSecOps practices is highly desired, as the candidate will play a key role in ensuring security throughout the development lifecycle, particularly in cloud deployments. Familiarity with DoD Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA) and compliance with stringent security requirements will be critical. The Cloud Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure system effectiveness, availability, and compliance with DoD standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS and Azure for mission-critical DoD systems.
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker to support scalable and resilient architectures.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and continuous improvement of cloud environments.
- Provide leadership in cloud architecture design, ensuring scalability, performance, cost optimization, and alignment with DoD compliance frameworks.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices, using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all infrastructure complies with DoD Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA), STIGs, and FedRAMP guidelines.
- Continuously monitor cloud environments for security, performance, and cost optimization.
- Provide expertise in securing workloads using cloud-native tools and implementing principles such as Zero Trust Architecture.
Required Qualifications
- Expertise in AWS and Azure cloud services, including architecture, security, networking, and governance.
- Hands-on experience designing and deploying scalable, secure cloud infrastructure for enterprise-level applications.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes for container orchestration, including managing clusters and implementing best practices.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and tools for CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins, GitLab, and Nexus.
- Knowledge of DoD cloud security compliance requirements, including STIG, FedRAMP, and SCCA.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving cloud infrastructure issues efficiently in a high-security environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DevSecOps integration in cloud environments, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security principles like IAM, encryption, and Zero Trust Architecture.
- Familiarity with cost management strategies for optimizing cloud spending.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, or CloudWatch.
- Proficiency with automation and scripting tools such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Understanding of hybrid cloud environments and cross-cloud integrations.

- Active Secret Clearance and ability to meet DoD security standards.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to work onsite at Fort Meade, MD.
