Snell & Wilmer L.L.P. is the largest law firm serving the Southwest with 500+ lawyers throughout sixteen offices. The Firm is looking for a Network Engineer in the Phoenix office who works closely with the IT Engineering team in strategic and day-to-day handing of issues and tasks ensuring all service level agreements and customer satisfaction goals are achieved. You will collaborate with Firm leaders, business units, and applications/integration teams to ensure 'understanding of' and 'improvement to' business and customer needs as it relates to network architecture; ensuring that infrastructure design and components meet all Firm security requirements.
You will be responsible for effective design, coordination, installation/configuration, and developing standards for network hardware/software and related enterprise infrastructure. The Network Engineer will also be responsible for implementing enterprise network systems that include high-availability, redundancy, and that support the Firm’s disaster recovery and business continuity requirements.
They provide technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the network infrastructure. This individual works to ensure that network hardware, operating systems, monitoring systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational requirements and standards. The Network Engineer will have focuses within disciplines of Core, LAN, WAN, WLAN, Voice, and IP-Balancing. This position provides one of the final escalation points for network issues and provides timely response and diagnosis of issues directly or remotely. This position requires the adjustment of hours and overtime to perform tasks that will be least impactful to users.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following::
- Implementation of network infrastructure for projects and upgrades, coordinating with other stakeholders and managing vendors.
- The administration of network infrastructure, including access, distribution, and core switching, wireless infrastructure, firewalls, VPN concentrators, and network management tools from Cisco and other network vendors.
- Establish performance baselines, and performs capacity planning, performance analysis, and network fault analysis to maximize network availability and application performance for all Firm networks.
- Secures network system by establishing and enforcing network security policies; defining and monitoring access and ensuring that all network management systems are highly secure.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in training/educational opportunities; reading professional publications; network manufacturer documentation; participating in professional organizations.
- Provides constructive feedback, cross training, and technical direction to others on the IT Engineering team and IT Support.
- Works with business/stakeholders on understanding their needs and concerns. Clearly communicates with stakeholders on non-technical level and provides an excellent customer service experience.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Information or equivalent experience in the appropriate fields is preferred, not required
- At least 7 years of experience supporting large data and voice networks in an Enterprise environment, preferred not required
- Cisco Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE preferred, not required
- Experience within a professional services environment is preferred, not required
- Advanced understanding of Network monitoring/analysis tools and SNMP protocol (Logic Monitor)
- Subject matter expert in routing protocols (BGP/EIGRP), Layer 2/Layer3 switching
- Subject matter expert within multiple areas, such as Core, LAN, WAN, WLAN, Voice, and IP-Balancing
- Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, with the ability to subnet and troubleshoot misconfiguration issues
- Proficient with Visio drawings, Microsoft Office Suite, and technical documentation of network systems
- A high level of knowledge and hands on experience with Cisco IOS/NXOS switches and routers
- Experience with Cisco ACS/ISE (or related radius servers)
- Experience receiving and configuring Internet circuits, MPLS circuits and point to point circuits between different sites
- Experience with Cisco AnyConnect, Cisco Fire Power threat detection, Cisco Wireless solutions (Flex Connect), Cisco UCS Fabric
- Knowledge of SDWAN solutions like Silver Peak
- Experience with VOIP and SIP solutions
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Must possess a strong business perspective to convey technology concepts and solutions that will satisfy the business requirements
- Developing solutions that are cost conscious, while being technically sound and supporting business requirements
- Self-starter capable of effectively managing own time and working well with others
- Subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR") compliant
