As a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer joining our team to support our intelligence customer in Springfield, VA.

This requirement is for a cloud-systems engineer supporting Research, Development, Testing, and multiple phases of product Evaluation (RDT&E). The ideal candidate possesses a broad range of systems experiences and embraces challenges as opportunities to showcase their expertise and capacity for problem solving. This position comes with broad latitude to define and implement many of the duties described below within both traditional and non-traditional information technology bounds. The client will be frequently seeking advice and leveraging your expertise to propose solutions to complex technology problems which are often first of their kind technologies within the Intelligence Community.
- Interfacing directly with software developers to design, establish, and maintain infrastructure (both physical and virtual) to support the business and engineering needs.
- Demonstrating new technologies and capabilities in the cloud.
- Performing general systems administration duties such as software installations, patches, and upgrades.
- Monitoring systems health and troubleshooting interconnectivity issues.
- Implementing security best practices under applicable federal and industry standards.
- Optimizing systems to meet performance expectations (i.e., cost, uptime, redundancy).
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining automated data back-up and recovery strategies.
- Providing software deployment support to multiple development teams.
- Utilizing existing or creating new tools and processes to optimize and maintain systems.
- Communicating a holistic strategy for documenting all processes using technology means (i.e., Git, Redmine).
What you will bring to us (Required Skills):
- 10+ years of experience in a systems engineering capacity.
- AWS Certification.
- Network and Linux administration experience.
- Experience implementing serverless technologies (i.e., AWS Lambda, Batch).
- Experience with Docker container orchestration and other VM-related technologies.
- Experience implementing Amazon Web Services (AWS) scalable architectures.
- Practical implementation of DevOps principles.
- Familiarity with programming and scripting languages (i.e., Bash, Python).
- Direct experience using AWS cloud technologies in both R&D and operational environments.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Ability to develop and support cloud technology solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
Would be nice if you bring the following (Highly Desired):
- Additional cloud certifications or hands-on experience with advanced cloud services.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and optimizing cloud systems.
