Job Summary
East Tennessee State University ( ETSU ) invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Computing in the College of Business and Technology. This position includes a concurrent appointment as a tenured 12-month faculty member at the rank of associate or full professor. Faculty rank commensurate with education and experience. East Tennessee State University ( ETSU ) is located in Johnson City, a city of 67,000 in Northeast Tennessee between the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains. ETSU , which offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, has an enrollment of approximately 15,000 students. ETSU’s Department of Computing offers professionally oriented undergraduate (B.S.) programs, graduate (M.S.) degree programs in computer science and information systems, and a graduate certificate in data analytics. Emphases include software engineering, database management, data analytics, operating and distributed systems, networking, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and enterprise information systems such as SAP . The Department has approximately 400 undergraduate majors and 60 M.S. degree students. The department is home to 23 faculty members. Required Qualifications
Doctorate degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Minimum five years teaching experience teaching graduate and undergraduate students in an accredited post-secondary institution. An established record of effective teaching, research and established scholarship, as well as professional accomplishments consistent with the rank of associate or full professor with tenure. A demonstrated record of effective leadership experience in promoting excellence in teaching, research, service, curriculum development, program review and assessment, student and faculty administration, securing external funding and grantsmanship, fiscal management, and in building collaborative community/workforce education partnerships.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the ABET accreditation process. Experience with distance learning modalities and management. Experience with interdisciplinary collaborations.
