Windows Server Administrator (Hybrid, Harrisburg, PA)
We are currently recruiting for a
Windows Server Administrator for our client, a Commonwealth PA entity. The focus of this role is to evaluate, prepare, and recommend technical solutions, as well as troubleshoot complex problems with a wide variety of applications.
This contract position is long-term with funding approved until 6/30/2025 (extensions possible)
40 hours per week role, with one day per week onsite at the client’s offices in Harrisburg, PA.
The preferred candidates MUST reside in PA, within a one-hour commute to Harrisburg.
This is a W-2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. Health benefits and 401K are offered.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for functioning as the Technical SME on an enterprise-wide system. Provides direct technical expertise to Executive applications involving national security.
- Collaboration with Technical Architecture Specialist, System Specialists, Programmers, and vendors to ensure and enhance the use of the product and effect migration to new versions of a product.
- Identify improvements to project standards to achieve high-quality services/products.
- Provide accurate estimates for design and programming efforts for system changes and enhancements.
- Confirm that technical architecture will support all changes required by product enhancements.
- Apply specific expertise to ensure that products meet defined customer objectives. Anticipates and resolves issues specific to the team.
- Determines server sizing and configuration, printer configuration, bandwidth analysis, and capacity planning.
- Monitor the availability of updates/upgrades to server hardware, tests and installs updates/upgrades. (SCCM/SCOM)
- Participates in product design reviews to verify that the design meets quality standards and functional/technical requirements.
- Performs impact analyses on production fixes and enhancements to establish priorities.
- Provide input to training and/or documentation materials regarding the latest technical and functional design changes.
- Review the system test approach and conditions used as the basis for detailed test scenarios. Follows quality standards.
Requirements - 5+ years of experience with:
- MS Windows Server experience in a large organization setting (required)
- Microsoft IIS configuration and support (required)
- HTTP Server/Apache support (required)
- Knowledge of Active Directory (Nice to have)
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking (Nice to have)
- PowerShell (Nice to have)
- Windows Troubleshooting (Nice to have)
- VMware (Nice to have)
- 2 years of experience with Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux - Nice to have
