Job Responsibilities
General Responsibility
Under general supervision, provide support, maintenance, monitoring, and installation of network and security components per SLED standards.
Specific Duties
- Assist with the design, install, configure and maintain network infrastructure: This involves planning, design, and implementation network infrastructure that meets the business requirements of SLED. Ensure the security of the network by implementing firewalls, access control policies, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security measures
- Troubleshoot network issues: Responsible for diagnosis and resolution of network issues that occur, which include identifying the root cause of the problem, implementing solutions, and documenting the resolution process.
- Collaborate with other IT teams: Work closely with other IT teams such as Server, Application, and Desktop to ensure that the network infrastructure meets their needs and that applications and services are running effectively.
- Monitor the network for performance issues, security threats, and other events that may impact network operations.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry standards, and best practices for network design, security, and administration.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in information system network and security infrastructure design, installation, operation, repair, and maintenance or related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degrees on a year-to-year basis.
- This experience must include technical support for a large complex network with a focus on security and performance.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining CISCO network/security hardware/software, which includes switches, firewalls, routers, IPS, VPN, Wireless, and VoIP.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of network security procedures, tools, and hardware solutions.
Additional Requirements
- May be required to travel and this may include overnight travel.
- Must be able to lift 15-50 pounds.
- Must pass federal fingerprint background check.
- On call status required; plus after hours and weekend work as required.
