About the Authorizations Specialist
Upperline Health is seeking a vein and vascular Authorizations Specialist to support a team of clinicians in delivering complex health services in the clinic setting. Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with surgical authorizations, medical billing, patient collections as well as customer service. This person must be an outstanding communicator and team player who demonstrates strong attention to detail and thrives in a collaborative environment. As Upperline expands, this individual will be able to explore a wide range of career opportunities within the company.
This position is remote, Nashville preferred
What You’ll Do
- Obtain authorization for patient care in the vein and vascular division of our growing practice (initial authorization, reauthorization, follow-up on prior authorization, etc.)
- Verify insurance eligibility, contact patients and departments with any negative outcomes
- Assist billing with claims issues due to insurance authorization denials
- Work closely with the clinical teams and referral sources regarding current and future authorization needs
- Maintain progress/tracking reports on outstanding authorization to ensure timely request, receipt, and processing of authorization
- Provide patient estimates regarding their out-of-pocket responsibilities for pending procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications of the Authorizations Specialist
- 1 year of experience with surgical authorizations; vein and vascular preferred
- 1 year of experience with EMR systems; Athena preferred
- Skill and proficiency navigating and utilizing payer websites and portals
- Skill and proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Skill and proficiency with Excel
- Ability to work independently and require little supervision, to focus on and accomplish tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
- Strong organizational skills and must be detail oriented
- Strong time management skills
- Demonstrated deductive reasoning and ability to use reference materials
- Must have a high school diploma, associate’s degree or higher preferred
Compensation
Compensation is commensurate to compensation for similar positions in the region and based on prior training and experience
