Enterprise Infrastructure Architect

Location: San Antonio, TX (Onsite 2-3 Days a Week)
20-30 hours per week
$110-125/hr.
Position Overview:
The Enterprise Infrastructure Architect will lead legacy infrastructure modernization initiatives, optimize cloud and on-premises environments, and work closely with security and IT operations leadership to ensure a robust and resilient infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in AWS Cloud, network architecture, enterprise security frameworks (OWASP), and IT operations. Experience with AI/ML infrastructure is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the enterprise infrastructure architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives, scalability, and operational resilience.
- Lead Architecture Review Boards (ARB) to enforce infrastructure governance, security, and compliance.
- Provide technical leadership to infrastructure and cloud architects, ensuring best practices for networking, security, and cloud deployment.
- Drive legacy infrastructure modernization by migrating and optimizing workloads using AWS Cloud services and hybrid architecture.
- Conduct infrastructure assessments and provide recommendations for improvements in networking, security, computers, and storage.
- Communicate complex infrastructure strategies and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect with a focus on infrastructure, AWS Cloud, and legacy modernization.
- Strong expertise in network architecture, cloud infrastructure, hybrid cloud strategies, and IT operations.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services, including networking (VPC, Transit Gateway), security (IAM, WAF, Shield), and compute (EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS).
- Experience running Architecture Review Boards (ARB) and driving infrastructure governance.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work closely with security, IT operations, and cloud teams.
- Deep understanding of security frameworks (OWASP, NIST) and compliance standards for the financial services industry.
Preferred Skills:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or similar certification.
- Experience with network security, firewalls, and zero-trust architecture.
- Familiarity with DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Knowledge of AI/ML infrastructure and high-performance computing.
