Summary:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for effectively provisioning, installing/configuring, operating, and maintaining system hardware, software, and related infrastructure systems. This individual implements processes and tools to continuously improve the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and standards.
Individuals in this position are expected to support project efforts by performing the technical implementation and support tasks. Additionally, as needed, this individual will provide second-level support for end user issues.
This individual is responsible for administering the following environments:
Windows server environment
Nimble Storage environment
Virtual server environment
Data network
Application systems and tools that support the infrastructure environment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow technical standards for system configuration.
- Document technical configurations.
- Install and configure servers and necessary applications.
- Perform system upgrades and patches as necessary to include firmware, operating system, and applications. (focus of this role)
- Ensure security standards and practices are implemented and maintained within the infrastructure environment. (focus of this role)
- Configure and monitor backup/recovery of systems.
- Proactively monitor system status/health and address issues as appropriate.
- Support help desk personnel as necessary to resolve end user issues.
- Develops and maintains security and network configurations
- Troubleshoots network performance issues
- Individual is expected to be generally available 24 x 7 x 365 in case of emergency.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage in frequent bending, stooping, pushing and pulling of parts and equipment.
- Ability to continuously walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, or crawl.
- Ability to continuously lift and/or move objects up to 80 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 45 pounds.
Qualifications:
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a technically diverse environment with wide-ranging responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (Computer Science/Engineering, Management Information Systems, etc.) strongly preferred; specific technical certifications and additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Experience installing patches in various network and server environments
- SCCM experience required.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows server environments including experience managing Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Good knowledge of Red Hat or other Linux Server Environments
- Experience administrating Office 365.
- Working knowledge and experience configuring and supporting VMWare or similar.
- Experience supporting web servers.
- General working knowledge and previous experience supporting MS SQL Server clusters.
- Solid understanding of LAN/WAN principles and protocols.
- Experience managing firewalls
- Direct experience supporting Enterprise Storage
- Security certification or PCI experience is a decided plus.
- Experience with VEEAM backup solutions is a plus.
