Job Overview: We are seeking an Entry-Level Electrical/Automation Controls Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. The ideal candidate has a strong aptitude for programming and a comprehensive understanding of electromechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement control systems for custom automation equipment.
- Develop, program, and debug applications (e.g., Ladder Logic, LabVIEW Applications, Python, C++, Structured Text) that runs across various platforms, including PLCs, robot controllers, camera systems, and Windows PCs.
- Create intuitive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for machine operators.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design, technicians, procurement, and customers, to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Troubleshoot and debug both software and hardware issues with a focus on efficiency.
- Work with robotics, motion control, and machine vision systems to create optimized solutions for our customers.
- Provide occasional onsite support for system installation and troubleshooting.
- Create electrical schematics and machine manuals.
- Play a key role in the development of process flow within control systems.
- Manage various aspects of system development from start to finish.
A successful candidate has:
- A background in software, electrical, or mechanical engineering, with a strong aptitude for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Programming experience in structured text (e.g., Python, C++, etc.) or ladder logic is required.
- Familiarity with PLC ladder logic or strong programming fundamentals in other languages.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for both software and electrical systems.
- Experience with machine/computer vision and robotics is highly valued.
- A proven ability to develop GUIs for industrial applications.
- Ability to adapt to new software packages efficiently.
- Familiarity with networking configurations is preferred.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.).
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley’s Studio 5000, NI LabVIEW, and motion control systems is a plus.
- Ability to generate electrical schematics for industrial equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a passion for hands-on problem-solving.
- Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment.
