As a Sr. Solutions Engineer you will design, analyze, plan and modify network components supporting customers high availability data center, communication systems, and equipment. While conducting implementation activities, the NE will also be responsible for performing knowledge transfer to customers and looking for additional opportunities to help improve their environment.
What you’ll do at Datalink, an Insight company:
- Responsible for design, integration, operation and management of customers’ complex enterprise networks, linking a variety of platforms, operating systems, network topologies and network protocols. Plans, designs and implements network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols for billable engagements.
- Participate in working at the customers’ environments during implementation. Troubleshoot network issues or problems, isolate root causes, and initiate corrective action. Provide technical analysis for customers to isolate issues and develop strategies to restore or activate services.
- Perform needs analysis, information gathering on customer expectations and technical baselines for writing or technical review of Statements of Work. Assist Principle Architects or Project Managers in writing the scope of work and technical assumptions of the statements of work.
- Develop and evaluate network performance criteria and measurement methods, alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost scenarios.
- Train to stay up to date on emerging technologies and products, including attaining certifications and participating in training events as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relations thru implementation and support activities.
What you’ll need to join Datalink, an Insight company:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar technology degree or 4 years related industry experience in lieu of degree.
- Network engineering or data center support experience
- Enterprise network routing & switching, Data Center network technologies, Firewall, VPN, & other security technologies, IP Telephony infrastructure, Windows servers & workstations, Network cabling and communications hardware and software.
- Project leadership ability including mapping out technical and business dependencies, milestones and timelines
- Excellent analytical ability resulting in problem resolution; troubleshooting skills in complex, technical environments; excellent verbal and written communication skills; organizational skills; attention to detail
- Ability to easily master a technology, apply it, and then develop expertise in new areas as required.
