Network Engineer Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology, the candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing networks using Extreme Networks and Sophos Firewall technologies. Provides support, technical direction, and expertise of enterprise systems and infrastructure, including planning, administering, and implementing all Information Technology/Information Systems requirements.
Essential Performance Responsibilities Design and implement new network solutions and improve the efficiency of current networks.
Install, configure, and support network equipment, including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP using Extreme Networks.
Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security using Sophos Firewall.
Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
Arrange scheduled upgrades.
Investigate faults in the network and report network status to key stakeholders.
Manage the day-to-day operations of all IT/IS infrastructure including storage, applications, databases, email services, systems management, network resources, and server/virtual infrastructure.
Automate tasks and improve operational efficiencies by designing VBS, PowerShell, or related scripts.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot all network resources including servers, network infrastructure, virtual infrastructure, storage, applications, and sub-systems.
Implement and maintain Information Systems security as mandated by state, county, and internal requirements.
Perform routine system audits and vulnerability assessments, verify IS security compliance.
Perform multi-tiered incident, change management, problem resolution, and end-user support.
Monitor faults, performance, and capacity issues; prepare remediation reports and documentation.

Travel Requirements: Travel to school district locations to repair hardware, install software and assist end users.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Extensive knowledge of computer hardware and software installation procedures.
- Knowledge of all school district personal computer and software applications.
- Understanding of current operating platforms, computer hardware and associated peripherals, and software applications.
- Ability to inspect, assess, troubleshoot and repair computer network system, hardware and software.
- Ability to work independently.
- Extensive knowledge of E-Mail, Internet, WAN, LAN, and other computer network programs and operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of end-users.
- Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.

Qualifications Profile Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Proven experience as a Network Engineer.
Hands-on experience with Extreme Networks and Sophos Firewall.
Solid understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices.
Professional certification (e.g., CCNP, CCDP) is a plus.
