The Network Engineer IIIwill be installing, maintaining, and evaluating network systems and communications as part of the ZivaroNetwork Team potentially working on Zivaro projects or projects on behalf of our customers. In this role, you will be assisting in the network assessments, architecture design, implementation & configuration of network infrastructures in support of Zivaro's business and our customer's business outcomes. In this role, you will be working on potentially all aspects of network engineering, to include routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, etc. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving network issues and will likely be working independently. The Network Engineer III independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Makes minor adaptations and modifications. Independently performs project assignments that involve few complex features and can be guided by codes, standards, and other precedents of the discipline. Analyzes and/or evaluates the results of an analysis using techniques prescribed by senior engineers or supervisors. Accomplishes and completes tasks of limited scope or solves problems that require investigation of a limited number of variables.
Responsibilities
- Engineering support for a multi-instance Aria Operations (vROPs) and Aria Operations for Logs (vRLI) system
- Maintains stable Aria Operations monitoring system through performing day to day operations and maintenance, working trouble tickets, and working problems or bugs to resolution
- Instruments Aria monitoring and reporting on VMware infrastructure
- Works trouble tickets with vendor
- Layout and execute a roadmap for continued improvement of an Aria Operations and Logs system with minimal guidance
- Recommend, document configuration and optimization of Aria Operations for high availability and performance
- Document, train, and implement initial dashboarding, alerts, and metric tuning to meet customer requirements
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for the customer's IT teams at various locations to ensure knowledge transfer and effective use of the solution
- Monitoring and Optimization:
- Create and configure dashboards, alerts, and reports to provide visibility into system performance and health
- Perform metric tuning and adjustments to ensure accurate monitoring and reporting
- Conduct regular performance assessments and implement improvements as needed
- Recommend and execute strategies to ensure smooth adoption and integration of VMware Aria Operations
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for VMware Aria Operations and Logs
- Participate in regular status meetings and provide progress updates to stakeholders
- Ability to translate a large vision statement into several smaller tasks and create a plan of execution which accomplishes the overall vision
- Ability to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on any Aria Suite product with minimal formal training
- Tracks and prioritizes own work independently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding operational environment with little oversight
- Possesses the fortitude to achieve success despite obstacles that would make others fail
- Position may require at times, night and/or weekend work to maintain a secure and resilient system
- Assessing, designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and potentially monitoring our customer's network infrastructure to optimize network performance
- Establishing and maintaining network performance
- Builds network configurations and connections and troubleshooting network problems
- Performing network assessments and providing recommendations for network optimizations
- Defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards in accordance with cybersecurity requirements
- Maximizing performance by troubleshooting network problems and outages and and scheduling upgrades
- Collaborating with network architects on network optimization and implementing updates as directed
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and authoring white papers
- Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed
- Analyzing and maintaining load balancing, firewall and security products under the network umbrella
Qualifications
- 6-8 years demonstrated network engineering experience
- 6 or more directly related IT experience
- 7 years general work experience
- 5+ years working in a VCF or VMware vSphere environment
- Experience in Aria Operations for Logs and Aria Operations
- Security+ Certification or ability to obtain within a month of start
- CCIE, CCNP or equivalent is highly preferred
- Experience with software-design networking or cloud-based networking is preferred
- Active Secret Security clearance required – Top Secret is preferred
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS Engineering, Computer Science, or Math); or equivalent combination of education and experience
- vSphere Certification: VMware Certified Technical Associate – Data Center Virtualization (VCTA) or 2+ years of experience with VMware vSphere
- Security+ Certification or ability to obtain within a month of start
- CCIE, CCNP or equivalent is highly preferred
- IAT Level II Certification (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
