Job Title: GIS Analyst
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA
Salary: $50 - $75/Hr.
SUMMARY
The GIS Analyst is responsible for providing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data analysis and support to Public Works (PW) personnel. This role includes spatial data management, GIS application customization, map preparation, and technical support for GIS software users.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform GIS data management, including data analysis, integration, and scripting for automation.
- Prepare maps, graphics, and reports for PW projects and operations.
- Provide technical support to PW users of desktop GIS software and data.
- Customize and automate GIS application processes to streamline operations.
- Maintain and update GIS databases, ensuring compliance with Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE).
- Work with PW personnel to address GIS-related inquiries and provide training as needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcSDE.
- Strong knowledge of GIS data management, spatial data standards, and database integration.
- Experience with scripting for GIS data automation and web map services.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- GIS certification is preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in GIS analysis and support.
- Experience working with Army GIS standards and protocols is an advantage.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office environment with occasional fieldwork to collect GIS data or verify mapping accuracy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to conduct fieldwork and operate GIS equipment.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Standard work hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Regular commute to primary work location is not considered travel. Occasional travel for fieldwork and training purposes at JBLM alternate sites.
CLEARANCE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance in accordance with DoD regulations.
- Compliance with all JBLM and DoD cybersecurity and information assurance protocols is mandatory.
