The Operational Technology Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic implementation of digital transformation initiatives within the organization's operational technology landscape, seamlessly connecting to the IT team thru the Business relationship Manager (BRM) as well as developing the strategic Five-year roadmap for People-Processes-Technologies to align with the company growth and innovative initiatives for Novelis Plant of the Future (PoTF). This role aims to optimize operational processes, enhance efficiency, improve safety, and ensure the security of the Novelis Operational Technology systems by integrating modern digital technologies. The incumbent plays a pivotal role in aligning the organization with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving operational technological landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Operational Technology (OT) aspects of the selection, implementation, and management of digital technologies, including IoT devices, industrial automation, and data analytics tools.
- Provide coaching and mentoring support to other experienced members of the organization, fostering technical expertise.
- Collaborate with site, regional, and global teams to collect project requirements and feedback, translating them into actionable project team actions.
- Identify and propose solutions to customer and operational problems, leading project teams to drive alignment across geographies or operating areas.
- Coordinate project responsibilities, negotiate timelines and deliverables, and lead regular review meetings with involved parties.
- Influence decision-making by preparing and presenting technical information to senior management on matters related to automation infrastructure and process data collection and control.
- Ensure strong alignment of initiatives within the wider manufacturing group, focusing on technology, people (organizational change), and processes.
- Collaborate closely with operations, digital, and Manufacturing Excellence teams to develop data management strategies that support data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure the security of operational technology systems and digital assets through robust cybersecurity measures.
- Stay informed and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations relevant to operational technology and data security.
- Actively engage in regional / global EHS initiatives to contribute to a culture of safety.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Controls, Automation or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Proven experience in leading operational technology transformation initiatives.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with operational technology (controls, technologies and processes), people management, MOC (Management of Change expertise).
- Knowledge of data management strategies and using data to inform decision-making.
- Excellent understanding of cybersecurity measures and practices.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage project teams and foster collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to present technical information to senior management.
