GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC seeks a highly experienced remote Scientific Programmer III specializing in migrating scientific applications to a cloud environment. The candidate will support GAMA-1's growing Cloud Services practice. In particular, the successful candidate will help drive GAMA-1's efforts to support its customers strategic initiatives. These strategic cloud initiatives intend to increase the bureau's IT efficiency, improve IT delivery, and reduce costs.
Essential functions/responsibilities
- Develop automation code for CI/CD tools such as GitLab Runner
- Use Python to develop programs and docker containers and Kubernetes using CI/CD pipelines
- Coordinate with users on Jira and Confluence project setup and customization
- Work closely with cloud architects, developers, and engineers to ensure seamless deployment and integration of Kubernetes-based applications
- Create and maintain robust documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues occurring along the CI/CD pipeline to maintain smoother operations.
- Research, design, deploy, provision, and document new technologies implemented within the environment
- Implement modern ground systems and applications and underlying technology stacks
- Participate with the Information Security partners and implement cybersecurity updates to the system
Required education/experience - BS/BA in Computer Science, a Technical Field, or other related disciplines
- 4-6 years experience migrating scientific applications from on-premise systems to a Cloud environment
- Demonstrated experience programming in Python and experience with docker containers and Kubernetes using CI/CD pipelines
- Demonstrated experience working in an agile/scrum team.
- Experience building and leveraging GitLab runners.
- Experience with code-defined Infrastructure, configuration management tools, and CI/CD
- Experience working with Cloud Service Providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platforms
- Experience and understanding of large-scale infrastructure deployments in enterprise-wide environments leveraging DevOPS principles and utilizing a CI/CD pipeline
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
Desired education/experience - Federal government experience
- 2+ years’ experience with Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
This position requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance
The base salary range for this position is: $111,447.07 -$152,559.89
This base salary range represents a general guideline. An individual’s base salary within that range is determined based on a variety of factors, including (without limitation) the scope, complexities, and responsibilities of the position, the government contract to which the position is assigned, geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and skills.
