Eurasia Group is seeking an experienced and versatile expert on China’s political economy to lead coverage of the country for our corporate clients. The ideal candidate understands how national and local political forces shape the investment climate for multinational firms in China. Key areas include industrial policy, as well as labor, land use, and tax policies. Sectors of focus include industrials, financial services, insurance, banking, and consumer trends. Familiarity with information technology and cybersecurity issues is a plus as well.
In this role you will analyze how political and geopolitical trends in China affect the interests and operations of Eurasia Group’s corporate clients. For this, you will need to understand not only how China views multinational firms, but how those firms view China. You will work with Eurasia Group’s China team, as well as with in house sectoral experts to develop regular written, oral, and multimedia briefings for clients. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a small network of outside stringers to support your work and you will work closely with our business development team to identify and win prospective clients.
Our work environment is often fast-paced and very demanding. You must have an entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual rigor, and strong discipline. You will be expected to manage often complex research projects on tight deadlines. You must have excellent written and oral presentation skills in English and be comfortable presenting and defending your analysis before senior executives at some of the world’s largest companies.
You will have professional experience that reflects strong skills as an analyst, a manager, and a communicator. Candidates with significant in-country experience are preferred, and a relevant advanced degree is required. Professional/research fluency in Mandarin Chinese is non-negotiable.
Applicants will be considered for the firm’s New York office, and all applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
