Summary:
Taltran Global has been exclusively engaged by a high-growth VC firm to find an Associate for their NYC office. Our client is at the forefront of innovation, investing in founders who are building technology-led companies in the fields of Medical Breakthrough, Climate, Space, Defense and Cybersecurity.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills, comfortable with wearing multiple different hats and managing ever-changing priorities. The candidate should be ambitious and eager to learn the Venture Capital world, having their hands involved in multiple different aspects of the firm. This position offers an exciting growth opportunity, working closely with the CFO/COO.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee financial operations, risk management, and compliance with audit, tax, and reporting obligations.
- Prepare and manage budgets, analyze performance, and recommend adjustments to maintain profitability.
- Manage expense allocation, reconciliations, banking relationships, cash management, and partner interactions (e.g., fund admins and auditors).
- Ensure timely audit and tax submissions, coordinate with portfolio companies for information requests, and approve valuations.
- Develop and own financial processes, policies, and improvements, ensuring zero issues or losses.
Operations:
- Lead and optimize operations across all entities while ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines (e.g., SEC, FinCEN).
- Create new entities as needed, manage vendor relationships, and develop operational procedures, including continuity and cybersecurity policies.
- Monitor technological innovations for competitive advantages and manage operational risk to maintain error-free operations.
Investor Relations:
- Manage fundraising efforts, investor communications, and relationship building.
- Prepare fundraising content, engage with existing investors, and organize investor events to enhance networking and knowledge sharing.
- Address investor queries and explore strategic partnerships to expand the firm’s reach.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate across teams within the ecosystem to align stakeholder priorities and support broader organizational goals.
Qualifications:
Education:
- CPA degree
- Functional understanding of GAAP accounting and corporate finance concepts
- Understanding of Financial Markets:Solid grasp of financial concepts, market dynamics, and the venture capital industry
Work Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in an audit firm or a PE/VC firm or in the finance of a PE/VC portfolio company.
- Experience in preparing financial reports, presentations, and other marketing communications materials for investors.
- 2-4 years of experience in management consulting, sales operations, business strategy, investment banking, venture capital, private equity or corporate advisory, or 4 years of experience with an advanced degree.
- 2-4 years of experience working with executive stakeholders.
Skill Set:
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and extract insights to inform investor communications. Skilled at running analyses and diving into data, uncovering insights that drive strategy, making informed decisions, and presenting those finds concisely and effectively
- Expert skills in Excel and proficient in PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of private equity structures, tax regulations, and accounting principles. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
