- Analyze, evolve, operate, and sustain wireless communications networks.
- Conduct traffic analysis, system design and dimensioning, radio site identification, evaluation and zoning support, frequency planning, interference analysis, and performance optimization for the command’s tactical radio systems.
- Calibrate, employ and collect data from e RF design, optimization equipment, and software.
- Evaluate candidate radio sites and make recommendations based on mission requirements and the RF environment.
- Support leasing/zoning teams.
- Create and maintain POA&M and System Security Plan (SSP) documentation for the command’s RF systems.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings for the command’s tactical radio system employment, performance, and configuration.
- Create design criteria, system dimensioning requirements, link budgets, and traffic analysis based on the RF environment associated with command missions.
- Perform frequency and Base Station Color Code (BCC) planning. Perform inter-modulation analysis for co-locating multiple RF systems.
- Perform and document optimization techniques, including proper antenna selection for optimal horizontal/vertical performance, mechanical/electrical tilting, appropriate transmit power setting, antenna clearance, and neighbor list analysis for optimal site/cluster performance.
- Generate RF reports documenting system performance and design considerations in Excel, Access, and SQL as required.
- Engineer, install, integrate, operate, and maintain RF communications, including Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G LTE, LOS, HF BLOS, and SATCOM radios.
- Skilled in satellite communications and terrestrial systems requirements and terrestrial systems
- Lead, manage, and coordinate activities of RF planning, system design, system employment, and system security.
- Define and document processes and procedures for RF engineering tasks.
- Create, document, and communicate to the command’s engineering lead information on proposed system upgrades, estimated costs, schedules, and project plans to accomplish the system upgrades or modifications within budget and schedule constraints.
- Provide Tier II level support for command’s RF systems and components as needed.
- Provide technical support for the vulnerability and risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.
- Provide technical support to the IA Cell to create and maintain command IA processes and procedures regarding the command's computer network defense in-depth protection for the command enterprise.
- Perform and support updates to and maintenance of the POA&Ms for the command enterprise.
- Support the development of RMF Security Plans. Document changes to systems and all required checklists for use within the command enterprise.
- Periodically review the command Enterprise architecture to ensure compliance with DOD guidance and direction.
- Implement and integrate IA defense postures to command's enterprise systems and architectures when coordinated or immediately upon being directed to secure reported cyber threats from the appropriate level of authority.
