Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team. We build mission critical systems for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other commercial customers. We’re looking for experienced Python and C++ engineers who are familiar with robotics development and cloud services. This position is held at Ft. Belvoir, with the opportunity of a mixed work from home schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Develop high-quality, scalable applications.
- The preferred candidate will have extensive experience with software development and software engineering principles
- Act as a subject matter expert for Python and C++
- Code and test software based upon software specifications and designs
- Analyze and study complex system requirements
- Design software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain software development
- Use sound software engineering principles to ensure that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, and fault tolerant
- Provide software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience
- 3+ years of Python
- 3+ years of C++
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Strong understanding of networks and familiarity with socket programming
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience with project management tools (Jira, Rally, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Linux environments
- Must be a US citizen
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
Desired Experience:
- Experience with robotics
- Experience with robotics simulation
- Familiarity with C#
- Familiarity with Java
- Hardware development experience

The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
