Electric Vehicle Digital Design (EVDD) is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up breakthrough electric vehicles. The Ford EVSE team is responsible for designing and developing next generation home and pro charging experience at Ford Motor Company.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you’ll be able to do:
- Build a product from scratch including design, prototyping, testing, deployment, to productization.
- Contribute to a robust and scalable C/C++ codebase with state-of-the-art practices.
- Mentor others in software and engineering domains.
- Develop next generation advanced AC Bi-directional charging solutions for enterprise and pro solutions.
QualificationsThe minimum requirements we seek:
- Master's or bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields
- 5+ years of modern C/C++ development experience on embedded linux
- 5+ years’ professional experience in an embedded SW development environment
- Experience with charging protocols such as SAE 1772, DIN SPEC 70121, ISO 15118 is a plus.
- Experience with web-based communication protocols, especially gRPC, WebSockets.
- Experience with unit test frameworks (e.g., Google Test).
- Experience with common build system frameworks (e.g., Make CMake).
- Experience with CI/CD using Github or similar framework (Jenkins, Circle CI).
- Experience with bug tracking tools, preferably Jira.
- Experience with charging cloud protocol Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is a plus.
- Experience with Linux kernel drivers for hardware components is a plus.
- Experience with any RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, QNX, GreenHills, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience with electric vehicle charging, power conversion and/or energy storage systems is a plus.
- Experience with designing software to meet functional safety (e.g., UL1998, ISO26262, ASPICE, etc) is a plus.
