Voyant Photonics is creating a new class of LiDAR devices that fit in the palm of your hand, measure range, velocity, and reflectivity more accurately than anything available today, with costs low enough to meet the needs of any system.
We are revolutionizing machine perception, developing low-cost sensors built on silicon photonic chips smaller than your finger tip.
Interested in a career at a young and venture-backed startup making real products out of cutting edge research in silicon photonics? Come join us! We are based in the heart of New York City.
Software Engineer
As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate closely with our systems team to deliver robust, intuitive interfaces and visualization tools that allow both internal and external customers to harness the full potential of our novel LiDAR sensors. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the foundational development of next-generation sensor technology.
What you will be doing:b
- API Development: Design and implement network interface APIs to enable seamless communication with our sensors, supporting both prototype systems and fully developed products.
- 3D Data Visualization: Develop real-time visualization tools for LiDAR data, ensuring the data is presented in a clear, accessible way for customers and internal teams.
- Interface Design: Create both programmatic and graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to support internal testing, manufacturing, and external customer applications.
- Algorithm Development: Design and implement efficient monitoring and control algorithms to optimize system performance.
- Engineering Support: Provide continuous support for ongoing engineering projects, troubleshooting, and improving system functionality as needed.
What we need from you::
•Minimum 2 years of commercial experience in a relevant software engineering role.
•Strong experience in data serialization and performance-critical messaging protocols.
•Proven ability in the live visualization of complex data sets.
•Preferred:
•Experience with UI/UX design for technical interfaces.
•Proficiency in embedded C++, particularly in Linux environments with a focus on Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms.
•Familiarity with Point Cloud Library (PCL) or Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2) for robotics applications.
