As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community banking in Engineering & architecture area, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Collaborates with product managers, designers, and other developers to understand project requirements and translate them into interactive and visually appealing web applications.
- Develops clean, maintainable, and efficient code using React, Redux for state management, Tailwind for responsive design, and Webpack for bundling and optimization.
- Implements and maintain responsive design principles, ensuring a consistent and delightful user experience across various devices and screen sizes.
- Optimizes web applications for performance, ensuring fast load times and smooth user interactions.
- Writes unit tests and actively participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality and integrity.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s) - Proven experience in front-end development using React, Redux, Tailwind and Webpack, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your expertise.
- Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
- Strong understanding of state management and asynchronous data flow using Redux.
- Familiarity with the Tailwind CSS framework for building responsive and visually appealing user interfaces.
- Experience with Webpack or similar bundling and build tools.
- Knowledge of version control, specifically Git.
- Experience with testing frameworks like Jest or Enzyme
- Previous exposer to backend technologies and server-side rendering
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and Amazon Web Services
