Job Description
Military datalink embedded software engineer. Must have a minimum background of 6 years experience designing Link-16 and Link-11 software, with a demonstrable knowledge of MIL-STD-6016 and MIL-STD-6011. Applicants without this minimum experience will not be considered. Five years experience in the Datalink Infrastructure (DLI) design framework is highly desirable. Participate in the development of requirement definitions, architectural and design approaches and implementation efforts for common datalink software across multiple programs and in a product line environment. Proactively identify and resolve issues that hinder development of a single common code base for use across multiple programs. Interface directly with Mission Computing peers on multiple programs to ensure the correct definition of interface and associated protocol, as well as to ensure the correct allocation of requirements to the datalink and mission computing software components. Develop solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. Use knowledge of complex mission computing architecture to create, document and present design alternatives, including between IPT teams other than his own. Help resolve programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost, schedule, and performance. Implement approved designs to meet contractual functional requirements. Contribute to the success of the group by designing within the team design framework. Perform unit and datalink integration level testing to ensure the end product is stable, meets the functional requirements and is ready for integration into the datalink system software. Provide technical leadership and guidance to peers within the group as they become familiar with the development environments, classified and unclassified, as well as technical leadership on areas of datalink processing domain knowledge. Perform DLI team builds for all AWS programs, and oversee the development of detailed procedures as builds evolve and as build requirements change. Train team members to perform AWS builds. Must have the ability to get a Top Secret clearance with special access, if not already having one. Works under consultative direction.
