Development Program Overview
The Polaris Engineering Development Program (EDP) offers a robust opportunity for engineering graduates who share our commitment to the design and production of world-class vehicles and powertrains. Our unique two-year development program will help you develop essential skills in Polaris Engineering processes that provide a broad-based understanding of the product development cycle while giving you in-depth exposure to our customers and their needs.
Through your rotations, you will be given challenging assignments to accelerate your career development for future positions of significant responsibility. The variety of work gives you an introduction to what working at Polaris is all about and helps you decide where you can best apply your interests to meet the company's needs. During this program, you will also establish mentor relationships with our business leadership that will continue throughout your career with Polaris. Polaris provides the resources, support, and environment you need to achieve both personal and professional success in this role.
Program Length: 2 Years
Rotation Length: 6 Months (4X)
Common Placement Locations could Include: Roseau, MN; Wyoming, MN; Novi, MI; among others.
As an Electrical Controls & Software Engineering EDP, you will:
- Expand your skillset through 4, 6-month rotation assignments within Electrical in the areas of: Systems, Embedded Electronics, Automated Electronics, Controls Development, Infotainment, Software Engineering, Autonomous, and/or Electrification depending on interests and business needs that take place in a variety of our teams including, but not limited to Snowmobiles, Off-Road Vehicles, On-Road vehicles, and Powertrain.
- Work as a team cross-functionally integrate product designs for manufacturability, reliability and serviceability while providing optimal customer centric products for Polaris
- Challenge yourself technically where every assignment has a new set of business challenges that require you to learn new skills and grow your existing skills and where you can design and improve products and processes, reduce costs, and improve quality
- Experience a variety of engineering roles early on in your career, which will allow you to narrow in on your next role at Polaris following the program
- Demonstrate your competence on complex cross-functional projects that stretch beyond most new college graduate positions
- Participate in technical training courses and projects that will help you to enhance your engineering core competencies as well as Early Talent hosted training to grow personally and professionally
- Receive hands on experience, in-depth training and ongoing support from your executive mentor, program steering team members and dedicated HR Program partner to ensure you will have a great experience and tools necessary to have a successful career in Engineering
Upon completion of the Development Program, you may transition into a full-time Engineering position within the business, contingent on business needs and the skills and experience you demonstrate during the program.

The Selection Process:
Applications will be open from September to December 2024. If selected, you will participate in a MS Teams panel interview with an HR leader and two functional business leaders. Upon accepting an offer, in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 (depending on your graduation date), you will collaborate with the Early Talent team to be matched with your first rotational assignment, team, and location through a thorough matching process. This process begins with the Early Talent Team providing guidance on the matching process and completing a Brand Slide. The Brand Slide, tailored to your specific program, provides insights to the team and assists in identifying the most suitable rotation aligned with your strengths, areas for development, interests, and business needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related Engineering degree with an intended graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Must be willing to travel and relocate between sites for your rotations, as well as be mobile beyond the rotational program to support your career development.
- Active leadership experience in student organizations and/or work experiences with interest to continue to grow your leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software; Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Internship/Co-op experience
- Previous leadership experience in work, organizations, or classroom
- Education and/or experience in applying embedded controllers
- Highly developed computer skills using electrical engineering software
- Fundamental software programming skills
- Basic Analog and digital Circuit analysis and design
- Experience with Mechanical systems and engines
- Basic electric machine and magnetics skills
- Power electronics skills
- Battery, energy storage, power management skills

The salary range for Washington is $76,000 to $84,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
