JOB SUMMARY:
The Systems Administrator will protect the company’s critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training and assist in developing the overall WHR IT strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software and hardware.
- Takes responsibility for projects and solutions within a growing business initiative.
- Handles business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide commercial advantage in the gaming marketplace.
- Enables faster and smarter business processes and develops analytics for meaningful insights.
- Works with internal and external partners/vendors to communicate project status, activities, and achievements.
- Performs server administration tasks (e.g. user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services), researches event-log warnings and errors; monitors resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
- Monitors data-center health using existing management tools and responds to hardware issues as they arise. Helps build, test, and maintain new servers when needed.
- Maintains internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates, support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
- Assist the IT team and internal/external employes with troubleshooting to identify root cause and provide technical support when needed.
- Performs routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups.
- Represents Wyoming Horse Racing, LLC with professionalism and integrity while helping to advance our company mission.
WEEKEND AND HOLIDAY AVAILABILITY:
- Due to the nature of the gaming business, this role requires the availability to work on some weekends and select holidays. You will be part of a rotating schedule to ensure that our IT support services are available during business hours, seven days a week. Flexibility and commitment to weekend shifts are essential to meet our operational needs.
SKILL/QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven success in an IT role as a Systems Administrator.
- Expertise in analyzing and repairing medium-scale distributed systems, creating volumes and assigning them to servers, and remote replication.
- Ability to travel to other WHR gaming locations when necessary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to obtain a Wyoming Gaming Commission gaming license.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows systems administration preferred.
- Preference will be given to those with professional certifications (A+, Server+, Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Admin Associate, etc.)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to stand or be on feet for long periods of time when needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse ladders and other equipment.
