The Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s IT infrastructure to ensure stability, performance, and security. This role will involve configuring and maintaining servers, network systems, and cloud environments, as well as collaborating with other IT staff to troubleshoot issues and optimize systems. Ideal candidates will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to supporting and improving the company’s infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
System Administration:
- Manage and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments.
- Perform regular monitoring, backups, and performance tuning.
- Ensure system integrity and data recovery by managing backups and disaster recovery processes.
Network and Security:
- Administer and monitor firewalls, VPNs, and network security measures.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, including vulnerability assessment and mitigation.
Cloud Services:
- Support and optimize cloud infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, as required.
- Assist in cloud migration projects and manage hybrid infrastructure environments.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide Level 1,2, and 3 support for escalated technical issues, including desktop support, network connectivity, and system failures.
- Coordinate with the IT team to resolve complex technical issues and minimize downtime.
Automation and Scripting:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (preferably in PowerShell) to streamline administrative tasks.
- Implement and maintain automated patch management for servers and applications.
Onboarding and Accounts:
- Manage IT-related aspects of onboarding and offboarding processes, including account creation, access provisioning, and access revocation.
- Collaborate with HR and department managers to ensure timely setup and access for new hires.
- Maintain documentation and logs for onboarding/offboarding processes for audit and compliance purposes.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3+ years of experience in a Systems Engineer, IT Administrator, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server environments.
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and network configurations.
- Understanding of network security best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Proficiency in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Preferred Skills (Plus)
- Inventory Management: Experience managing and tracking IT assets, including hardware and software inventory.
- Mobile Device Management (MDM): Familiarity with MDM solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune, AirWatch) for deploying, securing, and managing mobile devices.
- Office 365: Proficiency in Office 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Patching: Knowledge of patch management processes, including WSUS, SCCM, or other patching tools.
- Virtualization: Experience with virtualization solutions beyond primary platforms, such as VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure).
- SSL Certificates: Understanding of SSL certificate management, including acquisition, installation, and renewal processes.
- PowerShell Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating tasks and managing system configurations.
