About The Role
Hatchpros is seeking a skilled Security Engineer to join its IT security team to support and strengthen their security infrastructure. This hybrid role based in Chicago requires hands-on expertise with Active Directory and Azure AD/Entra ID, as well as strong troubleshooting skills. You’ll work on enhancing and securing directory services, supporting the organization's access management, and developing solutions to ensure the stability and security of IT systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated security engineer to apply their skills in a dynamic, high-impact environment in the aviation industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Active Directory Administration: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Active Directory (AD) services to support authentication, authorization, and access control requirements.
- Azure AD/Entra ID Management: Implement and maintain Azure Active Directory services, including single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), conditional access policies, and other security features.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Serve as a primary troubleshooting resource for security-related issues in AD and Azure AD environments, resolving complex technical issues with agility and precision.
- Identity and Access Management (IAM): Collaborate with IT security teams to implement IAM best practices, ensuring that access is appropriately secured across all user levels.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation for configuration changes, security policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT, security, and compliance teams to ensure seamless integration of security protocols across systems.
- Disaster Recovery Planning: Support the development and implementation of disaster recovery plans to ensure continuity of directory services and data security.
- Incident Response: Participate in incident response efforts related to directory and access issues, minimizing disruption and restoring services as quickly as possible.

- Active Directory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of AD infrastructure, configuration, and management.
- Azure AD / Entra ID: Proficiency with Azure AD services and integrations, including SSO, MFA, and policy management.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and experience diagnosing and resolving complex issues in directory services.
Nice-to-Have Skills Or Certifications
- ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services): Experience with ADFS for enhanced security and identity management across federated systems.
- Disaster Recovery: Background in disaster recovery planning and execution, especially in directory services and IAM.
- ServiceNow: Familiarity with ServiceNow for tracking and managing incidents, problems, and changes within IT security systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in security engineering or a related IT security role, with hands-on experience in Active Directory and Azure AD.
- Excellent understanding of IAM principles, directory services, and access control models.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate or similar.
- CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent security certification.
Work Environment
This position is based in Chicago, IL, and offers a hybrid work environment. Candidates should be local to the area and available to be on-site for 3-4 days per week as required .
