Job Overview
As a Junior Infrastructure and OS Support Engineer, you will assist in the day-to-day management of Linux, Windows systems, SAN storage, and VxRail (or similar HCI solutions). You will provide on-call support to ensure critical infrastructure remains operational outside of business hours, working closely with senior engineers on incidents and escalations. This role may require working extra hours when necessary and traveling to client sites, particularly if the position is based in Qatar.
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration: Support monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows environments.
- SAN Storage Support: Assist in the management and maintenance of SAN storage systems, including capacity management and performance optimization.
- VxRail/HCI Support: Assist in deploying and managing VxRail or similar HCI solutions, working with senior engineers to maintain infrastructure performance.
- Backup and Recovery: Support Veeam Backup systems, ensuring daily backups are successful and disaster recovery strategies are in place for SAN and HCI environments.
- On-Call Support: Participate in on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents after hours.
- Automation Support: Learn to automate operational tasks with scripting tools and assist with automation efforts.
- Incident Support: Provide first-level support for infrastructure and SAN/HCI-related issues, escalating to senior engineers as needed.
- Extra Hours: Be available to work extra hours as needed to support urgent tasks or incidents.
- Travel: If the role is based in Qatar, travel to client sites may be required.
Required Skills And Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in Linux, Windows system administration, basic SAN storage, and VxRail/HCI solutions.
- Basic experience with Veeam Backup and scripting languages.
- Willingness to participate in on-call support rotation.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Entry-level certifications in Linux, Windows, SAN, and HCI technologies are preferred.
