The Oklahoma Home Builders Association is a trade association of over 2,500 members in 6 local associations statewide serving as an advocate for Oklahoma's housing industry and as a corporate channel through which builders contribute time, money and services to local community service projects and education initiatives. As an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), a federation of more than 850 state and local associations with over 185,000 members nationwide, OkHBA is part of the most influential and active organization representing the building industry.
The State HBA promotes policies and legislation that allow for the production of safe and attainable housing and enhances the environment for the housing and building industry in Oklahoma.
Position Description
The Executive Vice President or Executive Officer (EO) is responsible for all areas of the organization, leading and developing its strategic decisions for its future and for the residential construction industry. Reporting to the Board of Directors of OkHBA, the EO is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of daily operations and employees as well as performance relative to annual business plan and budget. The EO should understand the legislative process and be able to work with members and leaders of the Oklahoma Legislature and Agency Directors to represent the goals and ideals of OkHBA. The EO should have general working knowledge of the housing and building industry including government policy, regulatory challenges and market conditions.
Position Responsibilities
- Attends all meetings and informs the Board of Directors (BOD) and Executive Committee on the conditions and operations of the association.
- Plans, formulates and recommends to the BOD policies and programs which further the objectives of the association.
- Submits recommendations for the long-range planning and meeting industry needs to the BOD.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with members of the Legislature, especially those in leadership positions, as well as the Executive branch including key agencies.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with other community organizations.
- Keeps the members informed of OkHBA activities, programs and services.
- Attends and represents OkHBA to conferences, seminars and professional meetings.
Position Requirements
- Four to ten years’ experience and/or training in a related organization.
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, independent, with experience in business and community involvement.
- Must be able to develop budgets and follow through on requirements to meet business plans.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategies and use creative problem solving to address complex issues.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and stakeholders to achieve goals and objectives.
