Overview:
We are seeking a Lobbyist for Privacy and Technology policy to join the Hyundai Motor Group Government Affairs team in Washington, D.C. The Lobbyist will advance the Government Affairs function for Hyundai Motor Group (“the Group”), by shaping and implementing the privacy and technology government relations strategy for Hyundai Motor Group. This position involves engaging with policymakers, advocating for the Group’s interests, and pursuing advantageous policies that will benefit both short- and long-term business interests. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of experience in government affairs, strong leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex legislative environments.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as lobbyist on policy issues at the federal level in policy areas that include but are not limited to autonomous and connected vehicles, consumer privacy, safety, and emerging technologies.
- Proactively develop policy positions and corresponding advocacy materials (position papers, letters, testimony, talking points, presentations, etc.) for senior leadership and in response to Congressional inquiries;
- Provide updates and communicate regularly with the Director of Federal Affairs, company issue experts, and senior-level management on strategy, issues, and policy development;
- Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with federal lawmakers and regulators;
- Maintain significant engagement with trade associations, coalitions, industry groups, and other influencers;
- Regularly engage with legislative committees and administrative agencies regarding Group policy positions and perspectives;
- Track, analyze, and report on Congressional and agency activity, including but not limited to legislation;
- Establish excellent working relationships with industry peers through trade associations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, or a related field is preferred.
- Master’s degree a plus.
- Six or more years of experience working in government affairs, with a specific focus on privacy, technology, and / or transportation.
- Proven ability to analyze policy trends, providing strategic insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into concise memos/papers.
- Ability to track and quickly respond to legislation and assimilate multiple projects and issues in a rapidly changing environment; knowledge of bill enactment process and bill tracking systems required.
- Strong network of contacts within government circles, especially those involved in transportation and technology policy decision-making.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience in successful government strategy required, including business case preparation and the development and monitoring of outcome and output measures.
