NOAA's Office of Space Commerce (OSC) has developed a data system for use in identifying potential space debris conjunctions involving operational satellites. The Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS) system will provide satellite operators with information that allows them time to take precautionary actions involving their operational satellites. This position provides system management support services for the TraCSS program team, as space situational awareness (SSA) continues to protect the sanctity of space.
Description/Scope of Work:
The candidate will provide system management support services, including Configuration Management (CM) support for the TraCSS Program. This role involves developing, implementing, and administering the TraCSS CM processes. The candidate will manage CM tools and processes, support document control, engineering change control, and software change control. They will work closely with program team members to ensure effective CM processes and track task completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and administer TraCSS CM processes.
- Input, update, track, manage, and maintain CM tools and processes.
- Support document control, engineering change control, and software change control.
- Collaborate with program team members to implement CM processes and track task completion.
- Monitor program compliance with CM processes and communicate concerns and areas of improvement to the Program Manager.
- Collaborate with project or system stakeholders, such as developers, testers, and users, to inform them of configuration information and resolve any conflicts or problems.
Required Skills / Education / Certifications & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (e.g., computer science, information technology, systems engineering).
- 5-10 years of Systems Administration experience.
- Experience with configuration management tools and processes.
- Strong understanding of document control, engineering change control, and software change control processes.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Proficiency in using CM software tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
