Job Summary:
The Network Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and overall health of the organization's computer network. The Network Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring network reliability, security, and performance to support the organization's IT infrastructure and business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Setup and Configuration:
- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Configure network devices to optimize performance and ensure seamless connectivity.
Network Maintenance:
- Perform regular system updates and network equipment firmware upgrades.
- Monitor network performance and address any issues, such as bottlenecks, downtime, or connectivity problems.
Security Management:
- Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, viruses, and malware.
- Establish and enforce network security policies and access controls.
Troubleshooting And Support:
- Diagnose and resolve network-related issues promptly.
- Provide technical support to end-users and assist in resolving connectivity problems.
Backup And Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and manage network backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical data.
- Test and ensure the effectiveness of backup and recovery procedures.
Network Monitoring:
- Utilize network monitoring tools to track network performance, identify potential issues, and proactively resolve them.
Documentation:
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and user manuals.
Vendor Relations:
- Collaborate with network hardware and software vendors to procure equipment, licenses, and support services.
Compliance And Reporting:
- Ensure network compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Generate reports on network performance, security, and usage as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology) or equivalent work experience.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent are often preferred.
- Proficiency in network protocols, security, and technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Knowledge of best practices in network design, security, and administration.
