Description
The
Network Analyst II/III reports to the
Network Manager and collaborates with the Network and Telecom teams to design, implement, and support internal and external voice and data network connections, IT assets, and critical deliverables. This role is responsible for proactively managing and optimizing network and telecom systems, troubleshooting complex issues, and leading initiatives to enhance infrastructure performance and security. Additionally, the
Network Analyst II/III takes ownership of assigned projects, contributes to strategic planning, and ensures compliance with industry best practices and organizational objectives.
Examples of Duties

- Supports the design, support, configuration, and installation of the county's LAN and WAN networks, non-cellular telephone services, network and telecom infrastructure, vendor support, departmental wireless technologies, monitoring, and reporting.
- Collaborates with and advises the Network Manager, Infrastructure colleagues, and IT Leadership to establish and execute timetables, resource allocation, and staff training initiatives.
- Partners with internal staff, vendors, and stakeholders to develop and implement advanced technical solutions for business challenges. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with vendors and supported departments to enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversees and ensures the implementation of corrective and preventive measures on existing systems to minimize downtime and prevent recurring issues. Leads efforts to maintain network and telecom systems at or above minimum viable standards.
- Facilitates cross-departmental collaboration to improve information sharing, integration, and translation, driving productivity and operational efficiency.
- Acts as a primary liaison between user departments and external entities, including ISPs, telecom providers, networking vendors, and governmental agencies, ensuring seamless communication and service delivery.
- Manages resources effectively within the constraints of the departmental budget, ensuring cost-efficient IT operations and investments.
- Oversees with the Network manager and IT Leadership the execution of Gaston County’s IT Business Continuity Plan, Incident Response Plan, and Disaster Recovery Plans, ensuring readiness and rapid response to disruptions.
- Engages proactively with vendors and stakeholders, including governmental agencies and ISPs, to assess, implement, and optimize technical solutions that enhance Gaston County’s adaptability and efficiency.
- Monitors and enforces IT service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors, ensuring system performance meets or exceeds established benchmarks.
- Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures to safeguard enterprise IT assets while maintaining the integrity, security, and privacy of sensitive information.
- Seeks and applies mentorship from supervisors and peers to enhance leadership, technical expertise, and overall job performance.
- Fosters a collaborative and professional team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Actively pursues professional development by attending training classes and seminars, applying acquired knowledge to enhance job performance and organizational impact.
- Takes initiative in identifying and executing additional responsibilities that contribute to departmental and county-wide objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Network Analyst II:
Graduation with an Associate's degree with five (5) years of experience in Information Technology or a Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of experience is required.
Network Analyst III
Graduation with a Bachelor's Degree and seven (7) years of experience in Information Technology is required.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Experience And Education
- Preference given to qualified candidates with Extreme Network certifications or proven demonstrable Networking experience.
- CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent certification in networking.
