Job Description: The Network Architect must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, as well as extensive experience in network architecture, particularly in IPv4 to IPv6 migration.
- Provides input and manages short- and long-term modernizations projects designed to meet business requirements for infrastructure functionality, performance, availability, cost and business continuity needs while considering business direction and growth strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on the designs and configurations of network systems across the enterprise. This includes may include designing, developing, installing, and configuring to optimize all local and wide area network hardware corporate servers, associated software and communication links.
- Keeps abreast of network designs and administers server and network systems, storage solutions, virtual environments and cloud architecture.
- Assists with the design, and oversight of infrastructure related IT governance, federal mandates, legal and regulatory requirements, such as access management, security and change management.
- Implements strategy and standardization roadmaps to ensure compliance. Works with stakeholders and vendors on technical baselines solution, including cloud architectures, server technologies, and communication technologies.
- Performs initial analysis of current information systems, gather diagrams and review current state prior to any upgrades to LAN, WAN, either on prem or off prem.
- Manage the migration from IPv4 to IPv6, including obtaining device counts, types, and current network architecture from stakeholders.
- Gather and analyze information to create realistic timelines for IPv6 migration.
- Assist with evaluations of network systems to ensure strategic alignment with mission, this can include wireless, cloud and data center networks.
- Implements short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
- Ensures effective implementation of hardware, software and communication standards in conjunction with system owners and stakeholders.
- Implements mapping to architecture framework, models and capacity views.
- Creates and ensures workflow and systems applications in a clear, concise manner.
- Interacts and negotiates with vendors and contractors while leveraging internal Procurement expertise to secure infrastructure-specific products and services delivery.
- Define and communicate a forward-looking network architecture and roadmap for modernizing networks that aligns with best practices and federal standards.
- Engage with executive leadership, team members, and technical experts both internally and externally to gather insights, align objectives, and shape innovative network modernization strategies.
- Architect comprehensive network models that address complex technical challenges across multiple sectors while ensuring scalability, security, and resilience.
- Architect and provide strategic oversight for the implementation of enterprise-scale network solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- Champion best practices and drive continuous improvement by integrating market trends and customer feedback.
- Develop and promote cross-discipline network designs focused on operational efficiency, delivering cost-effective solutions that reduce expenses while maintaining high performance and resiliency.
- Craft and present executive-level business cases that clearly articulate the strategic and financial benefits of network modernization initiatives to secure necessary investments.
- Ensure all network architectures adhere to federal regulations, security standards, and industry best practices.
- Provide strategic guidance on emerging technologies and innovative network solutions, serving as a trusted advisor to internal teams and external partners on technology investments and modernization efforts.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to evaluate the success of network modernization initiatives.
- Direct, conduct, and participate in technical presentations, demonstrations, working groups, and workshops for executives and technical stakeholders to effectively communicate complex network strategies and solutions.
Qualifications:
- Must have an Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in Information Management, Computer Science Computer Systems Engineering, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience may be substituted for degree.
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience
- Certifications Industry Certification: Ex: CCNP or CCIE Expert knowledge of Network Systems and emerging technologies

- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, manage competing agendas and priorities, and translate complex information across internal and external audiences.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into financial terms for the finance office.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and work with external vendors.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proven experience in network architecture and IPv4 to IPv6 migration.
- Extensive knowledge of routing and switching protocols (BGP, EIGRP).
- Strong understanding of network security best practices, including firewalls and SD-WAN.
- Knowledge of data center architecture and requirements.
