The Staff Systems Administrator at Acumera works closely with the IT Manager to manage and enhance the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
- Employee Support: Provide in-office IT assistance, including onboarding/offboarding, workstation and peripheral setup, and troubleshooting issues.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee and maintain common-use equipment such as conference room technology.
- Infrastructure Management: Manage core platforms including JumpCloud, Dialpad, Confluence, Jira, Google Workspace, email systems, and security systems.
- System Administration: Ensure high system performance through monitoring, patching, troubleshooting, and user account management.
- Security & Compliance: Maintain security protocols, enforce policies, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system configurations, standard procedures, and technical reports.

Work Environment
This role is based in a professional office environment and requires the Staff Systems Administrator to work on-site 5 days a week to provide hands-on support for internal employees. The role involves regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and conference room technology.
Physical Demands
Primarily a sedentary position; however, occasional physical activity is required, such as setting up workstations, moving IT equipment, or assisting with office relocations.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, in-office position at Acumera, operating Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. Participation in an on-call rotation is required to address critical issues outside of standard business hours. Flexibility may occasionally be needed to support urgent operational needs or ensure system security and availability.
Travel
Travel for this role is generally minimal but may occasionally be required between Acumera offices or to customer sites. Additionally, attendance at industry conferences and training sessions may necessitate limited travel.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in system administration, with basic knowledge of Linux, Windows, and macOS environments.
- Understanding of network basics, including LAN/WAN and experience working with switches, routers, or firewalls.
- Familiarity with IT security fundamentals and compliance best practices.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assist in small projects or team tasks.
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills in a hands-on IT role with mentorship opportunities.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Certifications related to system administration, such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA).
- Experience with system administration tools and platforms like JumpCloud, Jira/Confluence, MFA systems, and Web APIs.
- Foundational scripting skills in Python or BASH to assist with automating administrative tasks.
- Familiarity with managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) in a system administration context.
- Knowledge of IT security principles and experience with tools or certifications like CEH or CompTIA Security+.
- Interest in streamlining and automating recurring system administration processes to enhance efficiency.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, CIS Controls, or similar standards is a plus.
