Marathon TS is seeking a Cloud Administrator to support a federal client in Fort Belvoir, VA.
As a Cloud Administrator, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining proof-of-concept and operational solutions within cloud environments, primarily Microsoft Azure, with additional requirements for AWS. You will deploy, administer, and manage cloud solutions by configuring services, managing compute resources, monitoring resource and log analytics, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing infrastructure. This role requires expertise in managing compute, storage, network, and security components within the cloud, configuring networks, implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies, and ensuring compliance with strict Government Governance. The Cloud Administrator/Engineer will work extensively with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements, WSUS, and automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShell.
Job duties include the following:
Cloud Deployment & Administration
- Monitor, configure, and optimize Azure and AWS cloud environments.
- Configure and manage Windows & Linux virtual machines (VMs), including scale group configurations in multiple availability zones.
- Implement security measures, including Security Groups, VPNs, Firewalls, IAM policies, and third-party security tools.
- Configure and manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) for user identities and role management.
System Security & Compliance
- Apply DoD STIGs and Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, MS SQL Server, and RedHat OS.
- Implement, configure, and manage Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Linux Auto-Updater.
- Ensure cloud environments comply with DoD security requirements and best practices.
Automation & Configuration Management
- Develop and manage automation scripts for provisioning, configuration management, and cloud resource management using Terraform, PowerShell, Bash, Perl, and Azure CLI.
- Work with Jenkins, Git, Ansible, SaltStack, and Puppet for version control and configuration management.
- Create and manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions to automate cloud deployments.
Monitoring & Performance Optimization
- Monitor system performance using AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, Azure Monitor, DataDog, Splunk, and Grafana.
- Perform detailed performance analysis and troubleshooting at the OS and cloud level.
- Optimize workloads and ensure cost-effective use of cloud resources.
Technical Leadership & Support
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement cloud solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies and best practices.
Experience:
- Experience managing Azure Cloud Services, including:
- Configuring and optimizing compute, storage, network, and security.
- Implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Managing Windows and Linux servers using WSUS, RMP, and performing update administration.
- Applying DoD STIGs and GPOs to secure Windows and Linux systems.
- Working with version control and configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet).
Hands-on experience in:
- Infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Terraform, Bash, Ansible, and Azure CLI.
- System administration for Windows & Linux environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS).
- Cloud security and compliance monitoring.
Strong working knowledge of the skills, experience, and expertise required to perform the roles and responsibilities described in the Job Description and Job Duties, including:
- Cloud services and security: IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Lambda, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure Functions.
- Cloud automation tools: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
- Configuration and performance tuning of Windows & Linux OS.
- Networking in cloud environments: VPNs, Firewalls, Security Groups, Subnets, VPCs.
- Monitoring tools: Splunk, DataDog, Grafana.
- Scripting languages: PowerShell, Bash, Perl, Python, Terraform, Azure CLI.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a computer science or information systems field.

- CompTIA Security+ (Mandatory for DoD 8570 compliance)
- Minimum of an Active Secret Clearance
