Network Administrator
The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, configuring, installing, maintaining, and repairing network systems, subsystems, and servers. This position provides information, direction, and/or recommendations regarding network installations and configurations, resolves network operational issues, and offers technical support to district and site staff.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
· Skills:
o Ability to perform multiple, highly complex technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions.
o Competency in utilizing network, application, and operating system monitoring and troubleshooting software.
o Adherence to safety practices.
o Proficiency in planning and managing projects and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
· Knowledge:
o Proficiency in algebra and/or geometry.
o Ability to read technical information, compose various documents, and facilitate group discussions.
o Knowledge of current, legacy, and emerging operating systems, environments, and network protocols.
o Familiarity with router configurations, Inter/Intranet applications, data security, project management processes, and methodology.
· Abilities:
o Ability to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events.
o Ability to gather, collate, and/or classify data and consider multiple factors when using equipment.
o Flexibility to work with others in various circumstances and work with data using defined but different processes.
o Capability to handle a wide variety of job-related equipment and data of varied types and purposes.

Essential Functions
1. Network Security: Analyze network security to coordinate disaster preparedness and recommend methods to optimize network performance and security.
2. Installation: Install network software (client and server) across various platforms (e.g., service packs, application software, operating software, hardware upgrades).
3. Maintenance: Maintain network operations and software applications, including routers, data switches, hubs, and transceivers.
4. Project Management: Manage major projects such as system migrations, scheduling installations, and product research to ensure services comply with established guidelines.
5. System Coordination: Oversee network software, operating systems, and client-server programs to distribute software, maintain log-in scripts, user accounts, and system security.
6. Planning & Development: Participate in planning activities, including district-wide committees to create short- and long-term plans for programming support.
7. Documentation: Prepare written materials, including procedures, system-level documentation, and reports to document activities and provide reference.
8. Research & Recommendations: Research trends, products, equipment, and tests to recommend procedures and purchases.
9. Technical Support: Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, school site personnel, and vendors to provide technical assistance.
10. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot network hardware and software malfunctions (e.g., servers, hubs, routers, network protocols) to resolve issues and restore services.
