Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Information Officer, the Deputy CIO serves as a key member of the IT leadership team and will play a pivotal role in managing the strategic direction and operational excellence of the College's IT services. The Deputy CIO manages the delivery and performance of critical IT functions and services, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and user satisfaction. As a senior leader, the Deputy CIO is responsible for overseeing the College's Enterprise Applications, User Support Services, and IT Project and Portfolio Management.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the VP & CIO and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in developing long-term and short-term technology plans that align with institutional goals and priorities.
- Provide strategic leadership and operational management for the Enterprise Applications and User Support Services teams.
- Oversee the administration, optimization, and support of all enterprise applications across the College, ensuring alignment with academic and administrative needs.
- Collaborate with departments to identify and prioritize system enhancements and improvements.
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and security of enterprise applications, including but not limited to ERP/ student information systems, learning management systems, and CRM applications.
- Ensure IT systems and services comply with relevant regulations, security standards, and institutional policies.
- Lead and manage the User Support Services team to ensure excellent IT support for faculty, staff, and students.
- Develop and implement effective support strategies, ensuring timely resolution of issues and improving user satisfaction.
- Oversee the development and execution of IT initiatives, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets, and promoting a culture of collaboration and service with internal stakeholders.
- Manage and oversee the full lifecycle of technical projects, define project goals, create project plans, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure successful project execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff and senior leadership, including personnel covered by collective bargaining units, to understand their technology needs, provide solutions, and facilitate strong performance evaluation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a management position.
- Experience managing enterprise applications and IT services in a higher education environment.
- Extensive knowledge of project management principles, ITIL, and service management frameworks.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated expertise in IT strategy, enterprise applications, user support services, and technology project management.
- Understanding of compliance regulations affecting higher education institutions including FERPA, HIPAA, PII, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with budget planning, resource allocation, and managing technology-related financial matters.
- Previous experience working with labor contracts/collective bargaining units is desired.
