Springfield, VA - Salary Ranges 80-130k (Must have a TS/SCI Ploy)
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade and support various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies
- Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required
- Participate in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes
- Incident support and participation in on-call rotation during off hours and weekends
- Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books and other technical engineering documents
- Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes
- Oversee the Installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures
- Oversees the updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security
- Ensures systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are collected and regularly reviewed
- Keeps abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Hands on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts
- Experience with SAN, NAS and iSCSI storage implementations
- Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments
- Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments
- Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies
- Senior level experience with design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers
- Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environment
- Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet
- Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc.
- Understanding of security best practices, federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.)
- CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification
- Proficient written and oral communication skills
- Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to take direction

- PowerShell/Python scripting experience
- Experience leveraging scripts to audit and enforce configuration standards
- Amazon Web Services / C2S experience
