Senior Network Engineer
Full-Time
Hybrid - within the PPMM service area
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Design and deploy secure, high-availability networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) for our health centers.
• Configure and manage network devices including SDWAN, switches, and wireless access points.
• Ensure network compliance with all relevant data protection regulations, including HIPAA and PCI-DSS.
• Document and articulate proposed solutions to technical peers, business stakeholders and senior management.
• Review network architectural designs and configurations to provide recommendations to continually improve performance and reliability.
• Architect scalable solutions to meet the immediate and long-term business strategy.
• Perform internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance with all security policies and procedures which include internal penetration and vulnerability scans.
• Implement and maintain network security measures to protect sensitive patient data.
• Monitor network and systems health, respond appropriately to alerts and events to diagnose and troubleshoot network issues.
• Keep abreast of security vulnerabilities and remediate appropriately to improve the organization’s security posture.
• Contributes to the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Evaluate potential products and stay up to date on product offerings.
• Actively participate in developing operational models, processes, and procedures.
• Manage and lead internal network initiatives and projects.
• Develop and monitor project budget, cost, and schedule. Have excellent project prioritization and time
management techniques to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Work a flexible schedule allowing network maintenance during off-peak hours (late evening and weekend work as necessary).
• Assist in the design of multi-physical and virtual environments including IP address schemes, DHCP, Ether Channeling, VLAN tagging/trunking, Load Balancing, etc.
• Create and maintain infrastructure design and configuration documentation.
• Create end-to-end project tasks and expect to be accountable for the entire project completion.
• Collect and analyze network and system performance/utilization information and maintain systems in optimal working ability.
• Recommend improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability.
• Investigate and resolve network issues to include documentation and communication of issue.
• Mentor junior network staff and provide technical guidance.
• Gather and present metrics related to the service and performance.
• Lead problem management and troubleshooting efforts for network issues.
• Provide L3 support to support teams on operational issues.
• Work closely with other staff as needed to achieve needed IT administration and support.
• Adhere to Change Control policy requirements and procedures.
• Keep abreast of technological developments and maintain up to date knowledge and skills across key platforms.
• Effectively manage vendor relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to perform the duties described above. A typical means of acquiring those abilities would be:
• At least 10 years of expert level Network and VoIP experience including firewalls, routers, switches,
wireless access points and VoIP technologies.
• 7+ years of designing, recommending, engineering, implementing, and supporting network service
delivery.
• 5+ years of expert level networkexperience with Cisco or Microsoft products and services, or
comparable equivalent vendors.
• 3+ years of experience with networking and security technologies in a healthcare environment.
• 4+ years of experience in managing deployment of network devices and tracking of tasks and
dependencies using software such as Smartsheet, Asana, MS Project, etc.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate, Cisco Certified Network Professional, CompTIA Network+
REQUIREMENTS
• Extensive experience designing, configuring, administering and supporting Network technologies
• Expertise of network concepts: OSI model, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN Technologies, configuring and troubleshooting,
routers, managing DNS records, analyzing network traffic patterns, and designing network topologies.
• Proficient in network technologies: OSPF, BGP, SD-WAN, 802.1x, 802.1q, GRE, QoS, EIGRP, DSR, RADIUS,
VoIP, VPN, IPSEC, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and training skills. Proven ability to work effectively with all
organizational levels.
• Must have strong time management and excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Contribute as a network subject matter expert (SME) to projects involving cross-functional technical teams and external partners.
• The ability to document the current network design is of extreme importance.
• Able to foster and build collaborative working relationships with variousstakeholders.
• Exemplify role model teamwork behaviors. Clearly communicate issues, actions and plans.
• Proficient in designing and maintaining a high-performance global network with experience in network
administration and architecture.
• Knowledge of Cisco orsimilarswitching technologies.
• Demonstrate proficient understanding of network services such as Firewall, Virtual LAN (VLAN) configurations, Access Control Lists (ACLs), Network Access Controls (NACs), and other network security policies.
• Ability to create technical Management and Organizational Practices and develop knowledge base.
• Demonstrate knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3+, and Development Life Cycles (DLCs) for continuous process improvement methods.
• Excellent problem solving, negotiation, conflict management, and interpersonalskills.
• Experience in development, managing, and reporting of service level agreements.
• Experience migrating IT infrastructure into a hybrid on-premises/cloud environment. Perform Datacenter and/or work site relocations as necessary.
