Cyber Systems Engineer
The Opportunity:
The Cyber Systems Engineer plays a pivotal role in integrating cybersecurity into every stage of the system development lifecycle, from concept to deployment. This position involves defining and refining technical and contractual cybersecurity requirements, conducting audits to identify vulnerabilities, and recommending effective mitigation strategies. The engineer will assess system architectures and designs for compliance with DoD standards, including Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and provide expertise in system hardening, vulnerability management, and configuration management. Additionally, the role requires clear communication of findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders to ensure mission-critical objectives are met.

You Have:
- 4+ years of experience integrating cybersecurity into system development processes, including design, implementation, and testing phases
- Experience collaborating with systems engineers to ensure cybersecurity and resiliency are part of the entire development lifecycle
- Experience analyzing system designs, architectures, and implementations for vulnerabilities, ensuring alignment with mission-critical objectives and compliance standards
- Experience applying DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), managing Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, and implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
- Experience with vulnerability assessment tools such as Nessus and ACAS, and managing patching and configuration baselines
- Knowledge of RHEL and Windows Server environments, and developing, reviewing, and refining contract language to incorporate comprehensive cybersecurity requirements
- Ability to audit systems and processes, identify cybersecurity weaknesses, and provide actionable recommendations for mitigation
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT Level II or IAT Level III Certification within 30 days of hire date
Nice If You Have:
- Experience conducting technical audits of systems and processes, ensuring compliance with security standards and identifying areas for improvement
- Experience interpreting and analyzing network architecture diagrams and system configurations to identify potential vulnerabilities
- Knowledge of cyber resiliency strategies and how to integrate them into system design and operation
- TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, CS, or a related field
- CISSP, CEH, or AWS Certifications

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
