Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space and Launch Organization seeks a
Linux Administrator to support Proprietary Programs from
Herndon, Virginia to support installations, perform environment set-up, and maintain operational readiness with varying operating systems and hardware interfaces to sustain a 24x7 operations system.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in system integration; hardware and software installation; configuration and disposition of servers, workstations, and directories to support the architecture.
- Provide support for the design, validation, and implementation of changes to computing delivery systems.
- Perform system monitoring and backup and restore procedures to ensure system and data availability.
- Administer user’s system access through to meet security requirements. Perform problem resolution as appropriate.
- Successful completion of on-the-job training that involves training modules, self-led reading and observation, shadowing, and hands-on learning.
This position is expected to be fully onsite in Herndon, VA.
This position requires an active
TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- (1) Current U.S. Government polygraph, or (2) if you don’t have a current polygraph, the ability to obtain one (U.S. citizenship required).
- Willingness to successfully complete a Proprietary Certification program which requires a combination of self-study and on-the-job (OJT) training.
- Willingness and ability to work variable shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience working with or supporting Linux based systems.
- Experience supporting Windows 2008 or newer.
- Experience configuring networks and troubleshooting complex network problems.
- Familiarity with VMware virtual network environment.
- Familiarity with Windows Server and desktop operating systems.
- Bachelor’s degree.
Typical Education & Experience:
Associate (level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year's related work experience, etc.).
Experienced (level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).
Lead (level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).
Relocation:

Shift Work Statement:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range:
Associate (level 2): 73,950 – 100,050
Experienced (level 3): 94,350 – 127,650
Lead (level 4): 116,450 – 17,550
