AWS Fintech seeks a motived and autonomous System Development Engineer to deliver results to our customers. This is a hands-on position where your daily activities will range from strategic planning to new system development to supporting the customers that depend on our services. Deliver consistent, well-defined results in an agile systems development workflow. To succeed in this role, you will deliver reliable, scalable, controlled working environments built on AWS Products.
Systems Development Engineers perform traditional Systems Engineering and write or develop scripts, applications or mechanisms to manage infrastructure. This role was created for the “builder” population of Systems Engineers who go beyond using basic tools and GUIs to implement infrastructure as code and even server-less systems.

Key job responsibilities
- Work backwards with customers to build high-availability, resilient and fault-tolerant systems
- Stand up AWS servers, networks, VPC’s, load balancers and other AWS services and infrastructure
- Scale our AWS infrastructure and services globally
- Improve network and data security
- Optimize backup/disaster recovery systems and processes
- Maintain CDK (Cloud Development Kit)
- Implement solutions that improve efficiency
- Support integration and migration of enterprise systems
- Maintain and optimize existing AWS infrastructure
- Maintain OLAP multi-dimensional cubes and support dimension management, metadata design/maintenance and ETL development.
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
- Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment
- Knowledge of database systems and SQL
- Experience with OLAP tools such as IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), Essbase, Apache Kylin, Microsoft Analysis Services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
