About the role
The Solutions Engineer role in Chicago, IL are part of the U.S. based Sales Engineering Team. Our client has been selling into the U.S. market for over 28 years, with the sales and support personnel located in India and as the U.S. market continues to grow, we are growing the U.S. based Sales Operations Team in the Midwest. There are approximately 50k U.S. based customers ranging from SMB to Enterprise accounts.
Requirements/Experience:
Someone who can master business IT software products and effectively communicate their efficacy to prospective customers. You thrive in both a business and technical environment, interacting with business owners and executives, but can also get into the weeds with technical contacts.
- Proficient understanding of complex enterprise IT Operations and desire to continually learn additional software products
- 3-5 years’ experience in IT Systems Administration, from support to resolution (including, but not limited to install, configuration, maintenance of servers, networks, desktops and other devices, systems performance and security, troubleshooting outages, user support)
- Experience with Event Management software, Alerting software, Automation, Performance Monitoring (SolarWinds, ManageEngine, Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, etc.)
- Artfully articulate the value of business software to prospective customers
- Adept at listening to and interpreting a customer’s business needs to suggest the best solutions
- Must be quick thinker; technically savvy customers expect immediate solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in a phone, email, and web-chat based technical support or customer consulting role
- Interacts with technical leads and support teams to complete RFP’s, technical specification documents, build demos, POCs, as well as interact with support teams for any customer escalations
- Ability to work independently and achieve goals with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Smart, humble/low-ego, loyal
- Scripting, ITIL Experience a plus
- Ability to travel within your state (mostly day trips) plus travel to conferences out of state
- The ideal candidate should be available when the customer calls
Additional responsibilities:
- Training: master multiple IT software products. This is ongoing
- Field customer calls, understand their requirements, and provide solutions to their business needs
- Product expertise: demonstrate a product's capabilities to prospective customers
- Work hands-on with prospects throughout the ManageEngine sales cycle, from initial requirements gathering to demos and support
- Respond to support questions via email, chat, and phone
- Collaborate with multiple teams (product, sales, etc.)
